I was managing an adult foster care home and was in a place in my life where I was ready for a cat again. I went to CAT thinking I wanted an orange cat, because I had never had one, no other reason. Several staff members helped me consider my options that were good for my work living situation, since I lived on site with my clients. There was a gentleman there who in speaking with me told me there is a cat that seems to meet all the ‘criteria’ I have been taking into consideration and that I should visit Twinkles. Twinkles had a hard life being in a shelter for several years in CA as she was displaced with the wildfires in 2015. She was brought to CAT & spent several years there and was adopted and returned once. He mentioned that she would be timid and maybe not approach me. I sat and tossed a few toys around then got up & left the room. I returned 10 minutes later and sat again, this time she approached me and sniffed, eventually simply rubbing her little nose against my knee. I melted and knew at that moment she was my new fur baby. I notified staff she picked me and it has been an AMAZING journey since. About a year after getting her I was given an cat from a blind client and she is orange. So Gracie (AKA Twinkles) has a sister Roo. Gracie still plays like a kitten, cuddles every night and loves her sister. I’ve had her about 4 years and can’t imagine life without her, these two are my EVERYTING.
