Welcome to the family!

Congratulations! You are now the proud parent of a lovable cat companion. Thanks for helping us save lives by opening your heart and home to a new feline family member!

Adopter Resources

We’re here to support you and your cat — on adoption day and always!

Our Cat or Kitten Handbooks will answer many of the questions you may have about caring for your new feline friend. For additional info and advice, check out our CAT Helpline, contact your adoption counselor (your adoption paperwork includes their contact info), or reach out to us with questions.

Free Veterinary Exam Certificate

Keeping your cat healthy is a big part of sharing your life with a pet. If you don’t have a veterinarian already, start building a relationship with a vet or clinic now using your free exam certificate from CAT.

A Free Veterinary Exam Certificate* is supplied to adopters at the time of adoption. Your certificate cannot be replaced or transferred to other pets or people. See the map for a list of Portland area clinic locations that have agreed to accept this certificate. Please note that some locations may not be accepting new clients at this time.

Can’t get into your vet? Having an established relationship with a veterinarian in private practice is one of the best ways to support your cat’s health through their life. However, there are some veterinary alternatives (including our new vaccine appointments) available when seeing your pet’s regular veterinarian is not an option for whatever reason.

*You are responsible for selecting a clinic, making the appointment, and for any fees incurred for products, services, and/or treatments over and above the initial complimentary exam fee. Please reference the certificate when you make your appointment and be sure to take the certificate with you to the appointment. CAT is not responsible for any fees incurred as a result of the examination.
