Cars for Cat

Put your old vehicle to good use — donate it to CAT!

vehicle donation program

Your unwanted car, boat, RV, motorcycle, van, etc., can raise much-needed funds for cats and kittens! Cars for CAT works with Speed’s Towing to get you the maximum tax benefit from your auto donation. Your donated vehicle will go to auction and proceeds from the sale provide care for homeless cats and kittens.

how to Donate a Vehicle

Our vehicle donation program can accept donations of cars, trucks, RVs, boats, motorbikes, ATVs, and other vehicles.

To start the auto donation process, contact Speed’s Towing by calling (503) 234-5555. When you call, please mention that  you are donating your vehicle to Cat Adoption Team.

Speed’s Towing will arrange for the vehicle drop off/pick up (depending on your location), handle all the vehicle donation paperwork with the DMV and state, and arrange for the sale of the donated vehicle at auction.

Net proceeds go to CAT on your behalf. We’ll then provide you with a donation letter and other relevant information for your tax records.

Tax Information

Vehicle donations to CAT are tax deductible for all itemizing taxpayers.

When you itemize tax deductions on IRS Schedule A of your 1040 form, you may deduct the selling price of a donated vehicle up to $500 using the thank you letter we provide as your donation record.

If your donated vehicle sells for $500 or more, you may deduct the total price for which your car is sold. For tax purposes, you will need IRS form 1098-C Contributions of a Motor Vehicle. CAT will provide this to you along with a thank you letter.

Cat Adoption Team is a 501(c)(3) publicly supported charity. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Cat Adoption Team’s Tax ID# is 20-0773189.
