“Put the work in, plant a garden, try to stay afloat,” is advice Jac likes to live by. Jac is Cat Adoption Team’s Admissions and Foster Program Supervisor and she’s been with our organization since February 2024. When she’s not managing incoming cats and kittens, training foster families, or chatting about that weird thing on that kitten’s paw, Jac can be found reading, preferably on the couch, under a blanket, with a snuggle cat. What else does Jac get up to when she’s not working or reading? See below for more tidbits. Go, Eagles!
CAT: Tell us about your pets, please!
Jac: I currently have two cats. First we have Glitch! She is a 9-year-old torbie. I first met Glitch when she was 2 days old. She was born to a barn cat mama, and when I met her, she had already stolen my heart. I finally got to take her home when she was just shy of 8 weeks old. This cat is my soul cat. She has been through thick and thin with me, and our bond is unbreakable. We have gone through 4 moves together (one of which was over 1,800 miles) and she has always been my rock through every change, regardless of how difficult it was. She lost her sister back in 2022, but has since found her new best friend that was incorporated into our home in late 2022. She truly is my best friend!
Second, we have Rom the Vacuous Spider! She is a 2-year-old torbie! Rom was my first and only “foster fail” (but truly, it was a foster WIN!). She was originally found as a stray singleton kitten found on a busy street in the SE Portland area. She was brought into the shelter I was working at at that time, and I instantly fell in love when I met her. She was too small for surgery and needed a foster home until she was able to get spayed. I brought her home during that time and just knew she would never make it to the adoption floor because she belonged in my home. Her and Glitch were instant best friends, and bringing her into our family was the best decision we could have made.
CAT: Describe your dream vacation.
Jac: My dream vacation would be traveling the entire country of Ireland. I hope I can make that dream become a reality very soon!
CAT: When you’re not at CAT, what do you like to do with your time?
Jac: First and foremost, I am a reader! I love all things fantasy, and one of my favorite things in the world is diving into a new series full of complex world building and exciting magic. I also play tons of video games, with a particular love of all Dark Souls games, Bloodborne and Elden Ring. My husband and I are big football fans and never miss a football Sunday, or Monday night & Thursday night games. We are devoted Eagles fans. GO BIRDS!!
CAT: Have you ever met a celebrity?
Jac: Might be unknown to a lot, but I met Jordan Pundik, who is the vocalist for New Found Glory which was a favorite band of mine from my early teen years!
CAT: If you could have any super- power what would it be?
Jac: Invisibility!!
CAT: If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?
Jac: I would love to teach Earth Science. A fascination of mine, and also my favorite class I have taken.
CAT: Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room?
Jac: I would prefer to be the funniest person in the room, with the smartest sense of humor.
CAT: What is your go-to karaoke anthem?
Jac: Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance! Never can go wrong with that one!
Jac mostly works back-of-house in Kitten Headquarters. If you catch her out on the shelter floor, handing off a carrier of kittens or assisting with a training sesh, say “hey” and chat her up about your favorite fantasy book series or football.
