Meet the People: Dylan

Meet Dylan! He’s a Cat Adoption Team Shelter Associate, animal-lover, and exercise instructor. When he’s not caring for the animals at the shelter, Dylan spends his time traveling and cooking. Read on to find out what he’d like his superpower to be and learn more about the animals he shares his life with.
CAT: What’s your role at CAT and how long have you been involved with us?
Dylan: I have been at CAT since February 2025 first as a volunteer and now as a Shelter Associate!
CAT: Do you have any pets?
Dylan: Of course I do! I have two cats and a dog. Both cats are CAT alumni: Oliver, a 6 year old grey tabby, and Nancy, a 1 1/2 year old sweet little black cat. My dog is a 7 year old Border Collie named Forest, he’s got a heart of gold and the anxiety of a squirrel.
CAT: Besides a cat, what’s your favorite animal?
Dylan: A dog obviously, or a chicken. I grew up with farm animals all around and chickens are just tiny silly dinosaurs that secretly love snuggles.
CAT: What advice would you give to somebody interested in getting involved in animal welfare?
D: Be prepared for your heart to explode literally constantly.
CAT: What do you enjoy most about your role at Cat Adoption Team?
D: Beyond the cats and kittens, the humans. The collective desire to better the lives of these precious animals is wonderfully connecting. Truly some of our staff and volunteers are the reason I show up.
CAT: When you’re not at CAT, what do you like to do with your time?
D: I am a Spin and Pilates instructor. I also love to cook, eat, and travel.
CAT: Have you ever met a celebrity?
D: For my 21st birthday I had the opportunity to go to the Golden Globes with a friend; at the after party I got to meet Kathy Bates. What. An. Icon. (Note: Fried Green Tomatoes should be watched by all.)
CAT: If you could have any super- power what would it be?
D: Flying. Or being well-rested.
CAT: What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
D: This Cheryl Strayed Quote:
“How wild it was, to let it be.”
CAT: If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?
D: Spin or Pilates probably. Or how to dance like everyone’s watching.
CAT: Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room?
D: Oh baby, my goal in life is dumb, funny, and happy.
CAT: What is your go-to karaoke anthem?
D: I do not do karaoke and I am sure that comes as a surprise to many of you. However in my car, “Man I Need” by Olivia Dean.
Say, “Hello!” to Dylan next time you’re at the shelter. He’ll either be at the front desk, helping you process your adoption or introducing excited families to their next cat or kitten.
