We would like to share an important update regarding a leadership transition at the Cat Adoption Team (CAT). Our executive director, Karen Green, has made the thoughtful decision to step down to focus on her parents, who are facing serious health issues. This decision, while challenging, reflects Karen’s compassion and deep commitment to service.
Karen has been at the helm of CAT for more than a decade, during which time she has spearheaded remarkable growth and innovation. Under her guidance, CAT has emerged as a leading nonprofit recognized nationally for excellence in cat sheltering, medicine, foster care, workplace culture, and collaboration. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and the profound impact she has had on our mission and community.
During this transition, we want to reassure our community of CAT’s stability. Our mission and values remain constant and we are in a strong financial and operational position. We continue to be fully committed to serving our community and building on the momentum we’ve created together. We invite and encourage continued support and involvement from all members of our community—volunteers, donors, and partners alike—as we navigate this transition together.
The board of directors is implementing a comprehensive transition plan to ensure a seamless leadership change. An interim executive director will be appointed to steer the organization during the national search for a permanent successor, which will include opportunities for stakeholder input.
Currently, we have more than 200 cats and kittens in our care, highlighting the ongoing need for support and engagement from our community. Your contributions and involvement are essential to sustaining and enhancing our programs and services. We hope to see many of you at our annual Kitten Palooza adoption event on Saturday, June 21.
We thank Karen for her exceptional service and leadership and wish her all the best as she focuses on her family. Her legacy will continue to inspire us as CAT moves forward into this new chapter.
We invite you to follow updates on our website and reach out with any questions at [email protected]. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to CAT’s mission.
