(July 11, 2022) – Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is set to receive a $25,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love during a special celebration at Tualatin Petco (8775 SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road) on July 14 at 11 a.m. (PT) in support of their lifesaving work for animals in the Portland metro area.

A $25,000 investment from Petco Love will enable Cat Adoption Team to continue helping pets in need, like Fancy, in the Portland metro area.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like CAT — across North America, with 6.5 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Cat Adoption Team is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently celebrated the one-year launch anniversary of Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet facial recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

“One of the best ways to help cats in need is by keeping them with their families whenever we can,” said Karen Green, CAT’s executive director. “This investment from Petco Love will help keep cats in their homes and, when that’s not possible, give them a safe place to land until they find a new family.”

CAT is a local nonprofit organization that offers adoption, foster, low-cost spay/neuter, and other programs and services to support cats and people throughout the Portland metro area. Since 1998, CAT has helped more than 57,000 cats and kittens find loving homes. With support from community members, partners, and over 500 volunteers, CAT provides high-quality sheltering and veterinary care to cats and kittens in need in the community.
